Using A System To Buy Tech

In our last Newsletter, we talked about buying tech.
When it comes to stocks, we’re probably too late to buy, though.
But we’re not too late if we use a system.
We’ve talked before about a system on the NQ (E-mini Nasdaq Futures contract). If we trade this, we can start anytime. All we need is the next signal.
And if we do decide to trade it, we will have exposure to a very volatile, very trendy market. There’s a possibility for excellent upside now and into the Future.
Without buying-and-holding-on-for-dear-life with stocks.
Here’s the system again:
30M Nasdaq E-Mini Band Breakout (NQ.D)
- Long Only Entry: When price closes above the Upper Band (Length 100, st dev 2.9), enter at Open of next bar.
- Target: $3000 per contract
- Stop: $1000 per contract
There’s no such thing as “overbought” when using a system. There aren’t any earnings reports to worry about.
If it breaks out, we’ll be there. If it doesn’t, we’ll wait patiently.
Has this system worked in 2024?
Yes. It’s worked well the past two years.
And here’s the Curve since 2001 via Portfolio Architect:
It’s hypothetically up nicely on a sample $20k account.
And if we compound our gains (doubling our contracts when our account doubles), it hypothetically turns $20k into $196k:
That’s pretty good.
We’ll try to make it better in the next Newsletter.
