Starting From Scratch
June 24, 2020
What’s the goal of this blog.
My initial answer is that I want to provide free systems or ideas that could lead to building profitable systems.
But after thinking about it this weekend, the reason goes deeper than that.
The real goal of this Newsletter is to help regular people make money.
Specifically, I want to provide tools that will help anyone beat the market.
I want traders to email me and tell me how much more money they made than if they just invested in an Index Fund.
I think Index Funds are a terrible –and dangerous– idea.
If that’s what I want, what would be most helpful?
I got a great email this weekend that provided the answer. What if I started from scratch?
Would it be helpful if we started from zero and built a system or two that beats the market?
Then maybe we could track its results and make adjustments as we go (if we even have to make any adjustments).
Millions of people are spending trillions of dollars on an investment that might return 8%, might have over 50% drawdowns, and might not make money for a decade.
There has to be a better way. And I want to help a small corner of the world execute that better way.
If we can do it successfully, we can change lives. If we make a system that beats the market, then innocent people won’t get swindled and browbeaten into investing in evil index funds.
Last thing. Studies have shown that nobody really wants or respects something if it’s free.
But instead of charging, I put ads in. Those ads help pay me for my time. I hope that’s a fair solution.
In our next email, we’ll start at step 1. We’ll pick our instrument and get started with our system.
Let me know if you have thoughts. Feedback is always appreciated.
Talk to you soon.
