10 Mar So Simple It Just Might Work
So Simple It Just Might Work
Mar. 10, 2023
This week we’re looking at three free strategies that haunt me.
I’d love to trade them but I’m too stupid to do it.
So far.
The first two dealt with Futures. This one is Fx.
This one is super simple. That’s the beauty of it.
And also the problem with it.
First, the details:
BB 1-Hour Simple Breakout (Old)
Long Entry: When price closes above the Bollinger Bands™ (Length 60, 2.5 std deviations), go Long. Do the opposite for Shorts.
Target: 430 pips
Stop: 240 pips
This is the precursor for the more advanced Master Trend robot. It’s much simpler than Master Trend, as you can see above.
Here’s the hypothetical Report trading 1 lot each time:
Here’s the curve:
It moves up nicely from left to right, despite it being so basic.
However, it’s the simplicity that makes it robust. Because it has no tricks, it will definitely work during trends.
But it also has no tricks to keep it out of drawdowns. As a result, it will definitely not work during twitchiness.
I love the robustness of such a simple system. The drawdowns are too tough for me to handle, though.
What a weakling.
But I wonder if this could be combined with other simple robots?
Wouldn’t that kind of be the holy grail?
Simple robust systems all working together to create profit and eliminate drawdown without optimizing tricks?
Hmm.
Talk to you soon.
