Good Start for Old School
Jan. 12, 2022
Why does it seem like every time we start trading a new system, it tanks?
Surely, that can’t be true. Surely, it’s just my crippling personal biases that make it seem true.
But it’s happened an inordinate amount of times, including the year I did well in the Contest (2020).
Not this time, though. The Old School free system we discussed last week has gotten off to a good start.
First is the bad news. Here’s a recent trade (as of 1/9/22) on the 3 Moving Average Cross system:
The fast MA is above the medium and the medium MA is above the slow, so that’s a trade. And as you can see, it’s down at the moment. Trading 1 lot, it would be down a hypothetical $373.
Now the good news. The 1H Turtle free system is thriving so far in 2022:
It entered Long on a breakout around 1/4/22 and has ridden the upward wave so far. This would be up $860 trading 1 hypothetical lot.
The 4H Turtle free system is also doing well:
This system broke above the new high and closed out a winning trade when it hit the trailing stop. That would’ve been a $487 winning trade trading 1 lot.
Add that up and we’d be up about $970 so far in January. Not bad.
The problem, of course, is that these trades happened before we officially announced the portfolio. So they don’t officially count.
We won’t go over every single trade in the Newsletter, but I wanted to show you some examples. I want anyone to be able to follow along easily. It’s also nice to see some winning trades right off the bat (for a change).
We’ll keep updating these numbers as we go. In our next Newsletter, we’ll look at the Master Trend portfolio.
Talk to you soon.
