What’s Your Top Five?
Aug. 18, 2017
Americans love lists.
And I say: with good reason!
Lists help us keep track. They help us remember and appreciate. Lists help us re-experience fun things from our past.
Speaking of which, did you know that we can immediately change our current mind state by vividly remembering an exciting event? It’s true. Tony Robbins can confirm it.
By making a list, we enrich our lives by reliving emotionally-charged positive memories. Further, by making a list, we give ourselves a permanent document that we can refer to anytime we need a quick pick-me-up.
In that spirit, I’d like to make a quick list of Roger Federer’s greatest victories. This is so you can look them up on YouTube and relive the greatness. It’s also because my list brings back the fun of watching him play. It’s also because I am the foremost Roger Federer expert in the world and my list is the best list.
However, I’m not going to go into detail of each match at this time. That’s for another day (can’t wait!). No, this is just for practice (the other good thing about lists is that it’s a great mental exercise. It keeps our minds fresh).
So here are the Top Five greatest Federer matches of all-time:
- Federer d. Nadal, 2017 Australian Open final (legacy)
- Federer d. Philippoussis, 2003 Wimbledon final (made a grown man cry)
- Federer d. Roddick, 2009 Wimbledon final (never lost to that guy, even at his worst)
- Federer d. Roddick, 2007 Australian open semi (absolute beatdown)
- Federer d. Djokovic, 2009, US Open semi (this happened)
I may or may not be watching all of those again today.
But the important question here is: what’s your top five?
What are your top five favorite wins of your favorite team? What are the top five best things you’ve accomplished at work? What are the top five best relationships you’ve had in your life? What are your top five favorite books of all time? What are your top five most emotional memories?
Just by going through the process, you’ll find you’re transported back to those moments. And I’ll bet you a dollar those memories bring a smile to your face.
Lists are fun and permanent and can enhance our lives. I encourage you to make at least one list this week. And, if you want, feel free to email it to me.
You know how I love lists.
My book is called The Inevitability of Becoming Rich, and you can find that here.
